  1. Hey Owee,

we are visiting Thailand from Decembre 19th to January 5th and going from Hanoi to Saigon. Which stops would you suggest? We plan to spend Christmas on the beach and New Year’s in Saigon. The rest is up to good recommendations.

    Hope you can help us.

    1. not sure I understand. Did you mean Vietnam instead of Thailand? The most popular places are Halong Bay, then Hue, Hoi An, and Nha Trang for beaches. The North can be chilly at that time. If you want more off the old worn tourist trail, feel free to email me directly at riptide.nhatrang@gmail.com

  2. Hey there,

we will fly into Vietnam on Wednesday the 27 and then have time until the 19th of December. We want to visit Siem Rep at the Start of our tour. We Land in Saigon and then want to make our way up North. we fly out from Hanoi. Your last tour sounds good, and could work for us with slight adjusting.

    Thank you for your commens.
    Kai

  3. Hi Owee,

I will be traveling alone to Vietnam for 21 days/nights in December and January. Will it be too cold to travel to the north during that time frame? I am more interested in doing a trip of entering north and exiting Phnom Penh. Can you give me some suggestions on itineray and tours?

    Thanks so much.
    Stephanie

    1. Not too cold but it may be very chilly as far south as Nha Trang where the weather is always milder. Take a light jacket or buy one locally and you will be fine. SAPA may be very cold. You can email me at riptide.nhatrang@gmail.com if you want more specific advice

  4. Hi Owee,

    Interested in exploring vietnam.

I wonder how much to bring there to explore whole of vietnam in 30 days.

Would be looking at midrange lodging and eating local vietnam street food….some beach and some less travelled place.

    Pls get back to me….thanx.

    1. Yoi can easily do it yourself in comfort forabout fifty dollars a day……Inwould suggest just bringing whatnyounthink you need for cash security and simplynusing ATMs

  5. Hi Owee,,

Excellent website/blog. Really well done and informative.

My self and my fiancé are travelling to South Vietnam for our Honeymoon for 15 days. We are thinking of travelling from from HCMC to Phu Quoc along the coast to Hoi An.

    Is this a good idea?

    Many thanks,
    Colin Carrick

    1. Thanks…..
Sure but you might want to include Dalat…. the city of romance 😉
How about Saigon to Dalat, then Nha Trang and up to Hoi An?

  6. Hi Owee.

    1. Of course, I recommend my friends at V’Explore if you choose a company. With only 9 days to see a bit of everything (south vietnam) i suggest w nights Saigon, 2 nights Dalat and 3 nights Nha Trang. If wanting North, 2 nights Hanoi, 1 night Halong Bay, 2 nights Hue, 2 nights Hoi An

  7. Hey Owee,
I will be visiting vietnam from early May till mid July and looking for some tours I can take. Can you send me some info on the tours you have, especially the ones that go from South to North or the reverse. Also, what do you think about the weather around that time? thanx.

    1. The weather is great that time of year. the Saouth and the North will often have afternon showers to cool things down. I will email you a sample

  8. Hi Owee
I have just come upon your website. I’ve just started planning a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia for 3 weeks in August for my sister and myself. Your itinerary Hanoi – exit Phnom Penh sounds like what we had in mind. Would you please send me more information/prices?
    Many thanks

  9. Dear Owee,
I just happen to chance upon your website/blog. Interesting. My friends are looking into touring Vietnam in November. I have been to Vietnam about 5 times butt he last time was over 3 years ago. Vietnam is beautiful. I love the country. In your earlier blog, you recommended V’Travel as a local tour company (that is how I found your blog), and then later I see you too are now in the tour business. So, do you do guide tours? Do you have good safe, reliable drivers with a van perhaps for 5 people? My friends and I are interested in 14 to 17 days North to South, to Hanoi, Sapa, Halong, Hue, Hoi An and HCMC / Mekong. We prefer to travel a few days in each place rather than a day here and a day there, with exception of Halong, 1 night in fine. Can you email me and we can discuss ore about this?

  10. Dear Owee,

I am interested in the Hanoi and exit to Phnom Penh trip for two next week what is the cost of this and what is included and excluded in the trip

    1. I am interested in arriving Hanoi about Nov 1, 2014 and leaving by plane from Siem Reap. I am interested in staying in a double room ensuite in better hostels. Some bus rides and local plane trips?
