  1. Dear Owee,
What an informative and enriching site you have! We are couple in our late 50th, planing first time 14 days tour to Vietnam. We will arrive to Hanoi (from Singapore) on the late morning of September 20 and leave Ho Chi Saigon on the night of October 3.
We are interested in unique landscape and views, different culture of ours, food and history. I’ve compose a draft of my wishful itinerary, but I realize it’s much too squeezed… and ignoring the option of Typhoon hitting Hoi An and Dalat(?)
Before I will turn to Vexplore Travel to ask for service, I would much appreciate your advice is what to remove from the following itinerary draft:

20/9 (Thu) Morning flight from Singapore to Hanoi. Hanoi sightseeing. Night train to Sapa .

21/9 (Fri) Trekking (difficulty easy to medium) in rice fields, that haven’t been harvested yet. Sleeping in Home-stay ((*looking for beautiful view + cultural experiences all days around Sapa)

22/9 (Sat) Finish trek, visiting more villages / waterfall / plantation. Sapa’s sightseeing (I heard there is a special show / an event on Saturday nights in Sapa, what is it?). Sleeping: Hotel in Sapa

23/9 (Sun) Muong Hum Sunday Market + silver waterfall. Private driver or Night train night train to Hanoi (what to prefer? sleeping on the train or at Hotel in Hanoi?)

24/9 (Mon) “waking Hanoi” sightseeing + Halong Bay

25/9 (Tue) Halong Bay + back to Hanoi …Hanoi at night sleeping: Hotel in Hanoi

26/9 (Wed) Day trip from Hanoi to Tam Coc or Trang An (what to prefer?) sleeping: Hotel in Hanoi

27/9 (Thu) Fight to Danang – driving to Hoi An. Hoi An sightseeing + ride to the beach? hotel in Hoi An

28/9 (Fri) Half day tour to My-Son temples, Hoi-An surrounding or a cooking class. hotel in Hoi An

29/9 (Sat) Flying to Da-Lat, Da-Lat sightseeing + the Crazy House. Hotel in Da-Lat

30/9 (Sun) Easy-Rider Motorbike tour + flight to Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) Hotel in Ho Chi Minh

1/10 (Mon) The Mekong Delta – sailing . Sleeping: somewhere on the Mekong Delta

2/10 (Tue) Cai-Be -Floating market back to Ho Chi Minh.

3/10 (Wed) Ho Chi Minh’s sightseeing, free afternoon at 21:00 flight back.

Thanks for considering review my intinerary

    1. Thanks for the compliment. Wow!! you are trying to cover a lot of ground with 14 days. The way you have it, you will not have any time for Hanoi since most is transfer time. I might suggest an organized day tour of Hanoi to at least see the main attractions. you might want to consider dropping Tam Coc for the extra Hanoi tour and I will send some suggestions be email

  2. Hi Owee. Planning a trip to Vietnam from 16 Dec to 28 Dec. Very early stages but looking for a 12 day tour that’s suitable for us. We are 2 adults and 2 kids (11 and 9 years). Looking to start in Ho Chi Minh and finish in Hanoi.

    Many thanks

  3. Dear Owee,

I was wondering whether you’d mind casting your knowledgable eye over my itinerary for Vietnam – a whistle-stop 18 day trip starting on Wednesday next week.

I appreciate that I (and my friend) have limited time and, having never been to Vietnam before, we could do with someone well-informed like yourself to see if anything seems out of place or unrealistic..

    Many thanks,

    Jonny

      1. 12 days is not very much time. I suggest sticking to the south as it can be quite chilly in the north. I know Halong Bay is on most people lists but you will be too rushed to see much other than the very mainstream of places. With 2 kids I might suggest
Saigon for 2 nights, Nha Trang 2 nights, Hoi An 2 nights, Hue 2 nights, and Hanoi 2 nights………….. That is the old worn path or……
Saigon 3 nights, Dalat 1 night, Buon Ma Thuot 1 night, Nha Trang 2 nights, Hoi An/ Hue for 4 nights

  4. Hi Owee,

Your website and advice is great!

I wonder could you give me some helpful hints –

Myself and my boyfriend (we’re both 26) are planning a trip to Vietnam in June this year. We only have 16 days. Our plan is to fly into Hanoi and work our way down south spending the last 3 days in mui ne or phu quoc relaxing in a nice resort before flying home.

I would love to include a few days in Cambodia in our trip but I’m not sure if we will have time. What do you think?

Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    H

    1. With 16 days I am afraid you barely have enough time to see Vietnam less Cambodia. Mui Ne is a bit inconvenient to get to (3-5 Hr bus). There are nice resaorts there and it is a good spot for wind based water sports. Expect signage and most language in Russian. Phu Quoc is only starting to head into its rainy season and peak should be over with prices not so inflated. If it was up to me, I probably would pick Phu Quoc…. You might also want to look at a beach resort in Hoi An or spend a few extra days in Nha Trang and move to a resort (though there are not a lot of them) or even take a look in the Doc Let area (Jungla Beach for example)

  5. Hi owee are you running these tours or v,explore.

We are a family of 5 and have 14 or 15 days Vietnam in August 2013

    Thanks

    1. The purpose of the itinerary links is to simply give people an idea of places to visit. It can be confusing for a person who has never been here to sort through all of the information, factual and false, and get an idea of where to go. I will answer your question in a private email
